Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for the common Paladin, Dwarf, and Warlock

What is the Interlock Overload System?

The Interlock Overload System is our patent-applied-for approach to laser-cut MDF terrain building. By creating a product line of reusable integrative components, pieces can be attached and re-attached in an almost endless variety. This means significantly more tabletop options for you, the customer - allowing you to maximize the playability of your existing collection, easily expand as your needs dictate, and fit the pieces in with your other terrain selections.

Isn't MDF dangerous to work with?

MDF contains VOC’s (urea-formaldehyde) as part of the manufacturing process. It is advised that a particle mask always be worn while cutting and sanding, and that such work be done in a well-ventilated area.

What is the best combination of pieces for a starter kit?

Broken Road recommends a basic starter kit consisting of 2 staircases and 10 catwalks This combination makes any outpost or battle ground simple to build!

Where can you ship to?

Broken Road Gaming has worldwide shipping and wants to ship right onto your gaming table! Located in Canada, shipping charges vary for each destination.

Do I need to worry about my existing pieces becoming obsolete, as new products are developed?

No, not at all. Broken Road Gaming worked very hard on the Interlock Overload System, and are justifiably proud of it. All future offerings will be fully compatible with the existing terrain integration system.

I have been using my terrain for a while now, and it is starting to get a bit worn and loose... what should I do?

This is an excellent question. The sad reality is that sooner or later, everything starts to experience a bit of wear-and-tear (don't even get me started on my joints).

As an engineered wood composite, MMDF is a great material of choice for hobby building kits. It has cut edges and smooth surfaces, and is much stronger and denser than particle board. However, after hundreds of joins, worn MDF will often begin to lose its "sharp definition" at the connective points, and may begin to appear soft, frayed, or a bit crumbly.

So, what to do? Our recommendation is to throw out all your old pieces and start anew (just kidding). Seriously, you don't want to throw out otherwise fully function terrain. In the case of loose joints, you might want to consider making the worst of the offenders  "more permanent" in structure by gluing them. That sub-structure will still be integrative in nature, at least, and you can extend the longevity of your collection indefinitely.

What is the tallest structure I can build with the Interlock Overload System?
